April 2, 2012: The Stoughton Energy & Sustainability Committee will be participating in this years Earth Day, on Saturday April 21, 2012 from 10-2pm at the Stoughton Public Library. Press Release: May 2011: The Stoughton Energy & Sustainability Committee has Published a Town wide Study, "Greenhouse Gas Emissions Baseline Study". The report provides an overview of the calendar year 2009 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions originating from Stoughton on: water consumption, wastewater and solid waste generation. View it here. Stoughton Kitchen Garden Club: The SES committee's own Pat Hogan has coordinated a Club in Stoughton called, "The Stoughton Kitchen Garden Club". Backyard and local gardening is an excellent and sustainable way to feed yourself and your family. The garden club will resume in March 2012. November 1, 2011: The Stoughton Board of Selectmen give approval for the Stoughton Energy and Sustainability Committee to work with DPW Department Heads to determine goals for the Stoughton recycling program that are in line with current state requirements for solid waste diversion and reduction. The ESC will then develop a list of proposed changes to the existing recycling program that will allow the town to reach the goals and accurately track performance to be demonstrated to the Board of Selectman for additional approval. September 20, 2011: The Stoughton Board of Selectman vote and approve to sign the Resolution in Support of Updating the Bottle Bill. Stoughton is now one of over 200 communities that has signed the resolution in support of updating the bottle bill. To learn more click here: Massbottlebill.org
